Postural Assessment & Correction
Your posture is an important part of your long-term health! Whether you’re active or sedentary, ensuring proper posture can prevent pain, injuries, and other health problems.

Two types of posture: Dynamic and Static
-
Dynamic – how you hold yourself when you are moving such as walking, running, and bending.
-
Static – how you hold yourself when you are not moving such as sitting, standing, and sleeping.
Our thorough assessment measures your symmetries and imbalances including head alignment, spinal curvature, shoulder level, pelvic level, and hip, knee, and ankle joint positioning.
Negative effects of poor posture include misalignment of your musculoskeletal system, increased pressure on the spine, decreased flexibility and joint mobility, decreased balance which increases the risk of falls, and difficulties with breathing and digesting food.
Your Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) work against you!
Driving, eating, typing, and playing with your children are just a few examples that cause postural asymmetries and in turn lead to injuries. “How you move as a child will affect how you move as an adult.” As you grow in age, your body learns certain motor patterns to perform activities. It trains itself to move according to your actions. If your body has been programmed to sit at a desk and slouch with rounded shoulders and a forward head tilt, that is exactly what it will do. Your daily activities minimally require you to use your most functional, postural, and foundational muscles (the posterior chain). Most individuals should focus on lengthening the front of the body and strengthening the back side. Your must re-program your body to start firing tissues that you haven’t been for a long time.
