Therapeutic Ultrasound and TENS

Drugless Pain Relief!
We combine two of the most proven therapeutic modalities for pain relief:
Ultrasound and TENS
Deep heat from the therapeutic ultrasound and TENS therapy can be used simultaneously to help patients treat acute and chronic muscular pain.
Clinically tested and FDA-approved, may increase – healing rates, tissue relaxation, tissue heating, local blood flow, and scar tissue breakdown.
What is therapeutic ultrasound?
Therapeutic ultrasound produces high-frequency sound waves that travel deep into tissue and create gentle therapeutic heat. Ultrasound is intended to generate deep heat within body tissues to help treat a variety of conditions such as pain, muscle spasms and joint contractures, but not for the treatment of malignancies.

Will therapeutic ultrasound work for me?
The heating and relaxing benefits help to alleviate muscle pain, while the increased blood flow to the affected area promotes more lymphatic drainage to occur. Lymph is a clear fluid that carries white blood cells throughout the body which fights infection, encourages healing, and removes excess fluid. These three factors combined make it a very effective way to treat inflammation of soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc.) Issues such as tendonitis, non-acute joint swelling, and chronic inflammation are some of the most commonly treated issues.

How does therapeutic ultrasound work?
The sound waves are transmitted through a round-headed wand that the provider applies to the skin with gentle, circular movements. A hypo-allergenic gel aids in the transmission of the ultrasonic energy and prevents overheating at the surface of the applicator.

Is Ultrasound safe to use with other medication(s)?
Yes. In fact, you may find you will be able to reduce or discontinue your pain medications. Of course, you should not do so without consulting with your physician.
*It's recommended to incorporate therapeutic ultrasound and TENS when time is a factor in your recovery.

What is TENS?
TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) units were developed to help relieve pain by the transmission of mild electrical pulses through the skin to block the pain signals traveling to the brain. A TENS unit provides pain relief that lasts for hours. A TENS unit may help reduce or eliminate the amount of pain medications needed.

Will TENS work for me?
TENS is a highly effective treatment for pain. It is used worldwide and recommended by sports coaches, physiotherapy departments, pain clinics, doctors and other medical practitioners. A TENS unit will ease pain and may result in a decrease of pain medications.

How does TENS work?
Pads are placed on or near the area of pain. Soothing pulses are sent via the pads through the skin and along the nerve fibers. The pulses (controlled by the user) suppress pain signals to the brain. TENS also encourages the body to produce higher levels of its own natural pain killing chemicals called Endorphins and Enkephalins.

Is TENS safe to use with other medication(s)?
Yes. In fact, you may find you will be able to reduce or discontinue your pain medications. Of course, you should not do so without consulting with your physician.
